Mr. Walsh, older sibling to Liz McCusker, unfortunately died. (Liz McCusker is the youngest of that family. DON'T ask people at her former marina about that-----they will tell you that she acts like a spoiled brat, and that her sister was worse)
So the Ed Walsh house went to the siblings (and Steve and Liz took the dog). At the time of Ed's death, the house was valued at around $155,000, which here in the Portland area is extremely low.
Steve said under oath that when he was out of work in 2010, instead of looking for work he would go over there and paint in order to get the place ready to be sold. It did indeed sell, and he stated under oath that Liz got something like $38,000, though I may be mistaken; it may have been as much as $50,000. I can't recall the exact number, but that's not the point.
The point is that Liz burned through that money in less than a year. Just burned through it. I happen to know one way she did so....
Steve said that she received some money in 2008, which she used to lure her son back from Steve's condo with the promise of a car. I am confused about the details, but I do know it happened because I personally spoke with both Steve and the son at the time. The son had been happily living with Steve in Steve's "bachelor condo". But then Liz suddenly told the son that if he "came home" she would make sure he had a car. Well, what 16 or 17 year old boy wouldn't go for that? He was back with Liz before you could blink an eye. This actually boomeranged extremely badly on Liz, because without having the burden of taking care of his son, Steve went a little wild girlfriend-wise. What a revolving door! I wasn't one of the girlfriends (I have more respect for myself than that; plus Steve and I were just friends), but I was over there on Saturdays drinking a beer in the sun and saw that Steve was incredibly happy to be out from under the responsibility of a child (which made me think twice about other issues between me and Steve).
At a later time....it was certainly subsequent to 2008 but not sure when....Liz bought the son a car, in this case a Lincoln Continental or something similar. It was my understanding from Steve at the time that she bought the car with some of the proceeds of the Ed Walsh house (let's not get going here on the folly of taking a fixed-investment and turning that investment into a used car). She WAY overpaid for it----oil prices were through the roof and if she had any knowledge of investments/markets she would have known why she got "such a good deal" on the car (which I think was just $1000 or so).
Oh, THAT'S right------did I mention? For about 8 years I gave the son $100 each birthday. For the last two of those years, Steve took the money. Yes, simply TOOK it, but told me he gave it to the son. The money was in a birthday card each year. For two years Steve took the money and threw out the cards. I'm serious; he admitted it------he took out the hundred-dollar bills, and tossed my birthday cards to his teenage son into his trash can. Does this say anything about Steve's character to you?
When I found out about this...because the son contacted me....I called Steve on it. He told me the first year that he used the money to get the son a "tux" (ewwww, what a low-class word!) for a prom. The second year that he took his child's birthday-money, Steve just couldn't give me an explanation.
Steve used these explanations as an excuse for his own behaviour, which can only be described as Theft. Is there ANY excuse for taking your teenager's birthday card, opening it, taking out the money, and throwing away the card?
What kind of person STEALS their own kid's birthday present?

So at some point-----I think it was in a "Disclosure Hearing" because Steve wasn't paying me--------I said something like, "What happened to all the money Liz got from the sale of the Abby Road house?". Steve responded, "it's just gone".
I said, "Just 'Gone'?" and he said "Yes". He said he had no idea where the money went.
And that's the point. Maybe next time they have tens of thousands of dollars hanging around, they can figure out where it goes.
