"Liz was always telling people how well-to-do their family is", said a person who still keeps his boat at the marina. "She told us that she and Steve were looking at [in order to buy] a nearby island with a big house on it. It was for sale for about a million dollars. She said they were planning to buy it". [Note: Marjorie Getz also has emails from family members that state Liz made similar statements to them]. I've got to wonder with what she planned to buy this million-dollar island. More "buy now, with no intention of actually paying back" loans from credit cards, banks, and friends?
"None of us really understood this, because her family was also sometimes also at the marina and we could tell they didn't have much money. You can tell when people have money, and the Walsh they didn't grow up with money. We couldn't even figure out how they had a boat. Liz made a big deal about the fact that it was a big boat, at least to us".
"She swanned around", states a different marina member. "We liked Steve and so kind of elected him to head our club. If we'd known that electing Steve meant that we'd have to deal with the queen, Steve wouldn't have been elected. None of us could stand her. She was always 'decorating'; bringing cheap crap decorations around that we were supposed to use for the 4th of July and things".
A third person: "Have some pity. None of us ever believed her bullshit. But I'm a teacher, and I felt bad that she wanted to be one but couldn't".
And a fourth person:
"We didn't like her at all, but she kind of came with the package, you know? We liked Steve. But her? We always knew that if her mouth was moving, it was a lie about how great she is."
And finally on the night of 12/30/17, a man from a totally different place----Bates College----a mutual friend of mine and Steve's has told me that he is "happy that this issue is finally coming to the fore". Boys Do Bumps indeed! Even decades-long loyalties can end when those long-term friends find out there were lies.
